Note to self: the worst of days can turn out great
Today
Woke up early and had a leisurely breakfast looking out across the grey, drizzly mist
Got a lift to school with daf and sung Corrine Baily Rae and the shins in the car
Had no lesson first so i wrote a philosophy essay
No lesson unit 2 so I made notes in the library and then made some well needed coffees for cath and georgia and I
Break time I had a new eat natural bar nom
Next unit I did the set psychology work and read through some biology notes
Lunch time we sat outside on the grass and it was warm and sunny! We played with a makeshift ball and its little happy things like doing this and having energy :)
Then walk to immy’s house, play football, frisbee, limbo on the green with laughs and suuuuuun
Then cycling to the shop to buy ingredients, keep going to the common where we see Lucy and Helen in Helen’s CAR which was perfect timing and so lovely
Next cycling down the hill feeling freee and happy and grateful
Quick stop at immy’s for a mini cornetto before walking back to the library to do biology revision and some reading
Mum then picked my up from school and we whizzed up to waitrose and got lots of yummy food as a treat because we never go to waitrose!
Back home and I put all the shopping away before making and having tea with the fam and then watching don’t tell the bride USA haha
Then browsing lots of inspiring tumblr blogs and reading interesting articles and Caroline popped round and I got the rats out even though they tried crawling down my top and scratched me!
Then desperately trying to find something I can wear for Zumba tomorrow and in the process tidying my room and finding clothes I’d forgotten about
By this time it’s dark and raining outside but I still manage to persuade my brother to come on a quick run (in which he thought he was going to die!)
Came back to do some stretching and yoga to a new cd
And now I’m lying on my bed feeling very content with the day I’ve had, now time for a shower, quick look over key words for a possible biology test tomorrow and then watch the rest of the syndicate in bed
THEN SLEEEP WELL!
Feeling good is so great woooo
"People don’t wanna be compared to the teenage girl; the teenage girl is hated, teenage girls hate themselves. If you listen to a certain kind of music, or if you express your emotions in a certain kind of way, if you self harm, you write diaries, all those kind of activities are sort of laughed at and ridiculed because they’re associated with being a teenage girl. Even just things like being cripplingly self conscious or overly concerned with our appearance, that’s considered like a teenage girl thing and therefore its ridiculous, it’s stupid, it’s not relevant or legitimate, and you know, what we needed at that age was legitimisation and respect and support but all we got was dismissal and “oh you’re such a teenage girl."

"FEMEN needs to recognize that Muslim women do in fact have agency, and the idea that Muslim women are helpless, passively indoctrinated by the alleged evils of Islam, and desperately need of Western feminist help is oppressive and orientalist. Patriarchy is not specific to Islam — although there are inarguably extreme and truly saddening examples of misogyny in the Muslim community, patriarchy is a global issue. Furthermore, feminism is not only a Western institution — to assume that Muslim women need someone to “speak for” them is insulting to all the grassroots political organizing and activism that Muslim feminists have done. It’s disturbing how a the rhetoric of “women’s liberation” has been co-opted to justify aggression, violence, and prejudice against Muslim communities. In what way is it appropriate to “rescue” women by indulging in and re-circulating essentializing, stereotyped, and offensive depictions of their culture?"

"It does not hit you until later. The fact that you were essentially dead does not register until you begin to come alive. Frostbite does not hurt until it starts to thaw. First it is numb. Then a shock of pain rips through the body. And then, every winter after, it aches. -Marya Hornbacher (Wasted)"
